JOSE MIGUEL HAS BEEN SPONSORED!
Thanks to all who helped by tweeting, linking, and praying!
I make no bones about this post....it's a appeal. Please read to the end as I am sure you can help in one way or another.
We've been sponsoring Ryan James for about four months now and I really wanted to help CFCA reach their goal of 8000 kids. What is 8000 kids?
Seventy-five-year-old Bob Hentzen, the president and co-founder of the Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, ended his 17-month, 8,000-mile walk across 12 countries to show solidarity with the poor June 6.You can read about CFCA on my sidebar and by going to their website of: http://www.hopeforafamily.org. While the company has been founded by two Catholic gentlemen you need not be Catholic to sponsor a child or aging and the child or aging does not need to be Catholic to get sponsored and they are not out to convert. I also want to note that CFCA has an A+ rating from American Institute of Philanthropy with a 94.3% program support rating. You can read more about their financials here.
His goal was to gain sponsorship for a child for each mile he walked in one of 22 countries served by the foundation, which is based in Kansas City, Kan. Along the way, Hentzen visited and walked with some of the 182,000 families helped by the foundation.
While Hentzen's goal of gaining 8,000 sponsors had not been reached, he earned support for more than 5,000 children. He told CNS that his goal was to reach as many as possible. "Numbers haven't been that important to me."
Your sponsorship is more than just a handout:
Our unique style of sponsorship is effective because we know "one size does not fit all." Project coordinators and staff members listen closely to our sponsored members and their families, then tailor benefits and services to meet their specific needs. In many projects, parents of sponsored children are given opportunities to participate in skills training or livelihood initiatives, so that they can begin to rely less on sponsorship and more on their own abilities to provide for their families. And here's the appeal part:
Last week I contact CFCA to see if I could help with the goals in reaching 8000 kids. I was sent a packet for little Jose Miguel. Many things come to mind when I see the picture of Jose Miguel and read the information about his family. But here's what I know:
Jose Miguel was born on April 28, 2010 to a mother who is 20 years old and a father who is 25. He likes to play with cars and is learning Spanish. He is said to be so sweet and has special needs regarding his health, he has Spina Bifida and Hydrocephalus.
His mother and father both work, yet they have so many problems as their income is too low to cover all the needs for little Jose Miguel. He lives in a home with mud walls, a zinc roof, and a dirt floor. He sleeps on a wooden bed, cooking is done by firewood and lastly, six people live in this home. The family income is about $15 USD per month.
My prayers, if it's God's will, are for me to use my blog & tweeting to help this family gain sponsorship. Sponsorship is $30 USD per month.
If you feel called to sponsor this child please contact me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
If you are able, I humbly ask if you will please spread the word using whatever social media you are able. Facebook, twitter, blog post, or e-mail. Thank you.
Lastly, can you please add this little boy, Jose Miguel to your prayers?
May God bless you!
